THE DELIGHT OF MY HEART

By Thomas E. Durst

When I first picked up a Bible early in 1951 and began to read it for the very first time, I began to sense a Presence that was wonderful and fulfilling. Some several decades later I still experience that same Presence when I’m studying and pondering the Scriptures. God’s wonderful grace is poured out on thirsty souls (see Psalm 36:8; Isaiah 55:1; Matthew 5:6; John 4:14; 7:37-38; Revelation 7:16; 22:17). My wish for all is to experience the fulfillment that comes from knowing the Living God evermore. We do indeed live in very troublous times and all of us need an anchor for our souls both sure and stedfast (see Hebrews 6:19). The words of the prophet Jeremiah would be my testimony: "Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts.”—Jeremiah 15:16 (ESV)
